If you have had a look at my blog, you might be aware of the fact that I love plans. Lots of planning, but not by us, went into this trip. Although we scoured a number of guide books for information and we wanted to go by car, be independent-ish, we figured we had little idea about distances, sights to see – apart from the usual suspects (THE Geysir, anyone?) – and weather and road conditions, so we booked a package with a small agency, Island Profi. They provided us with an incredibly detailed plan how to get around Iceland including the beautiful Westfjords, organised a rental car, plane tickets and booked rooms all over the place for us. We only had to do the packing, driving and touristing.
In addition to the detailed schedule of what to see when and where, we had a back-up consisting of a Lonely Planet guide book, a road map and an Icelandic sim card with us, just in case 🙂
